Praising be to Allah, peace and blessing of Allah be upon the Prophet.

I would like thank all of you for coming and participating in this event

First I want thank to my

  • Family for supporting me for making sure that  I get everyday necessary needs, especially, I want thank to my Aunt (Fadumo) for making sure that letting me have what it takes for me to learn Quran.
  • My teachers for standing by side me through all the years I have been here. I also want thank my teachers for giving consistence advice so that I won’t be on the streets for some others. Because many of my age are on the streets, not having either Islamic or other education, without my teachers advice and help I would not be here today, because of them I am proud of myself.
  • Also I want to thank Sh. Abdirahman, Sh. Abdisalam, Abdisamad, other Dar Al-Hijrah administration for making sure that we have a place to learn Quran and teachers to teach us. Also I want thank them not only for providing this for us but also their effort and leadership for the whole community, truly without their leadership and hard work the community would have bigger problems.

Second, today is big day for me, because I have finished the entire Quran, which I was waiting for a long time. It has been a long since I started Quran. Today, I am happy for the progress I made; however, that does not mean that I am done. I believe there are still long way to go.

  • First step, I have to memorize the Quran again and again with acting upon it with knowing the tafsiir and meaning of it. Because I believe Quran is our way of life.
  • Second step, I have to be first line of every Halaqa (circle studies) that is offered.
  • Third step, since my teachers and sheikhs taught me Quran, I have to give back by becoming a teacher for our younger generation. It is my Islamic duty to teach and show gratitude to my teachers.

Finally, I want talk to my fellow classmates and all our youth directly. First, in order for you to take the following message, you have to do this first.

  • Have a goal to finish the Quran
  • To be top on your Islamic education and school education by enrolling the Dugsi, participating all the events that happens in Dar Al-Hijrah. You know that Dar Al-Hijrah Youth holds annual completions for high schoolers to build their Islamic and academic education. For this year’s competition, I had the privilege to represent my school. My school get number one for that round, even though we still have a lot more to go. If there were no Dar Al-Hijrah activities I would not answer all these questions. Basically 90 percent of the question of both Islam and academic I learned from Dar Al-Hijrah. Thus, Dar Hijrah activities are not only Islam but they are life skill building classes.

Message to the youth

Youth have been the for runners of every society and civilization. Youth changed the world for both good and bad. The world is just chaos; our youth some of them miunderstood Islam; while, some of them are in gangs who dropped both Islam and School; our teacher, sheikhs, and parents are getting old. Our teachers, sheikhs, and parents have done their job; they spent their time, knowledge, and money on us.

We have to step up, take their place; lead the community and the world. We need to be active in our Islamic center and community as whole. We have to serve, do not ask what you need, but ask what you can give. The world needs us, and way to help is to start from the basics, by being a member of youth council; I am member of Dar Al-Hijrah Youth Council, and we invite every youth who wants to help themselves, and their community, join us in order to save ourselves and the world.

Again, I would like to thank for you all coming here. I would like to thank my family. I would like to say to my Salahudin Dugsi teachers and all scholars and sheikhs of Dar Al-Hijrah, as youth we will stand by you and please be patient with us, and do not disappointed when we do something not appropriate.
